Joan was born and raised in the Berkshire Hills
of Pittsfield, Massachusetts. It was there that she
developed a love for nature and wildlife.
She moved to Vero Beach in 1974 and began her painting
career in the early 1980's. She was greatly influenced by
Backus student, Jackie Schindehette, and later on by
Highwayman Geroge Buckner, who gave Joan a passion to paint
Florida landscapes.
Joan is certified to teach oils and acrylics and gives
classes in her home.
Hours of practice, continuous study, imagination, and a
desire to excel are what enable Joan to paint as she does.
Many of her works are displayed throughout the United States
and overseas.
